Mike’s area of expertise is organizations – how they are structured – the manner in which they are managed and operate – and the philosophies, methods and practices that reliably drive impressive and sustained, performance and success. After a highly successful 25-year career in a series of executive roles in the engineered and manufactured products sector, in 2007 Mike started his own management consulting practice with a focus on Organization Performance Management.
Mike’s first-hand operating experience includes a range of organization types, with expertise in most functional disciplines, and an operating practice and presence in North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico), Europe and Asia.
As a high impact change agent, Mike contributes to Latz & Company’s Organization and Management Service areas, focusing on leadership, board development and governance, strategic planning and organizational assessments and executive coaching.
Before becoming a management advisor and nonprofit management consultant, Gies was an Operating Officer at Woodhead Industries where he held numerous executive management roles such as subsidiary President, EVP of Strategic Planning, Operational Planning and Corporate Development, and EVP of the Europe Region.
A fast study with a judicious eye, Mike is especially adept in helping organizations clarify and articulate their vision, culminating in executable plans designed to achieve the organizations overall goals and objectives. He has an uncanny ability for developing deep bonds with senior executives while challenging, motivating and supporting them with his disciplined approach.
Mike graduated with a degree in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of the University’s legendary Irish Guard. Mike and his wife Nancy live in Oak Park. Their three grown children are 5th generation Oak Parkers.
