Brian is a seasoned development professional with more than 25 years of experience as a nonprofit consultant and senior advancement leader and manager. As both a consultant and chief development officer, Brian has directed capital campaigns with goals ranging from $2 million to $100 million. During these campaigns, Brian conducted thousands of personal solicitations asking for and securing major, leadership, and transformational gifts. For seven years, Brian co-facilitated a course in Major Gift Solicitation at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Brian has extensive experience as a nonprofit executive serving as Vice President for External Relations at Catholic Theological Union, Director of Development at the Francis W. Parker School, and the Vice President for Development at the Hazelden Foundation in Chicago. In these roles, he not only conducted and oversaw development and external relations activity, he also sat on leadership teams tasked with strategic and operational aspects of the organizations.
After graduating from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Brian had a successful ten-year career in corporate finance and real estate. With a commitment to philanthropy and inspired by volunteer work on various charitable boards, Brian made a career transition to the nonprofit sector in the early 1990s. His commitment to life-long learning led him to the Catholic Theological Union where he earned a Master of Arts degree in theology in 2005.
Brian brings a combination of experience, expertise, and passion to his work. He has seen organizations from the outside as a consultant and from the inside as a leader. Utilizing his keen understanding for the financial and organizational business fundamentals, his mission-based view of the organization, and a unique ability to connect with individuals and diverse groups, Brian creates and fosters strong collaboration in the pursuit of organizational goals.
In addition to his professional work, Brian pursues opportunities to explore interfaith dialogue and to promote peace and reconciliation initiatives worldwide, with a particular focus on projects in Native America, Poland, and Northern Ireland. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys biking, mountain trekking and a variety of snow and water sports.
