Jennifer B. GoodSmith, Of Counsel

 

Jennifer GoodSmith is an award-winning nonprofit thought leader in all aspects of data-driven integrated marketing, communications, and relationship-based resource development and fundraising. Working with organizations in higher education, association management, and service organizations, Jennifer has also led brand management, strategic planning, and strategic communications resulting in significant impact and growth for several organizations.  

Most recently, Jennifer was Vice President of Mission Advancement for The Anti-Cruelty Society where she served as the Chief Advancement Officer and the Chief Marketing Officer. Her work focused on building a culture of philanthropy through resource development, fundraising, donor relations, and special events. She also developed a strong marketing and communications strategy with a focus on brand management, creative services, and media relations resulting in significant growth in resources and brand awareness.  

Previous experiences included her role as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for The Morton Arboretum, where she launched a successful new brand, while growing attendance by more than 35%. She was Vice President of Integrated Marketing at the American Medical Association where she was responsible for marketing strategy and integrated physician communications.  Jennifer also worked in higher education, where she built marketing programs designed to position universities to recognize and embrace what makes them distinctive while building brand recognition through traditional and social media channels. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s degree in Planning from Loyola University Chicago. 

Throughout her career, Jennifer served as an active volunteer and Board member with a number of nonprofit organizations. She received several awards including recognition from the American Marketing Association as the Nonprofit Marketer of the Year, as well as awards from the Publicity Club of Chicago, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the Admissions Marketing Awards, and the American Public Gardens Association where she received the Dorothy Hansell Marketing Award. As a frequent guest lecturer and presenter, Jennifer has shared her expertise on a wide variety of branding, fundraising and marketing topics.
